{"id":3279,"date":"2023-03-26T11:23:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-26T09:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cospe.publifarm.com\/non-categorizzato\/cospe-a-genova-cambiera-il-volto-allarea-mira-lanza\/"},"modified":"2025-07-25T09:27:24","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T07:27:24","slug":"genoa-cospe-to-change-mira-lanza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cospe.publifarm.com\/en\/news-en\/genoa-cospe-to-change-mira-lanza\/","title":{"rendered":"GENOA \u2013 Cospe to transform the Mira Lanza area"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Source<\/strong>: <em>L&#8217;Eco di Bergamo<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A key area of Genoa, an ambitious project, and a company that kept growing even during the pandemic: <strong>Cospe<\/strong>, based in San Paolo d\u2019Argon, will lead the redevelopment of the former industrial site that once housed the historic detergent manufacturer <strong>Mira Lanza<\/strong>\u2014famous for the Ava brand and beloved TV commercials featuring <strong>Calimero<\/strong> and the <strong>Dutch Girl<\/strong>\u2014which went bankrupt in the late 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The site, owned by the <strong>Pegaso fund<\/strong> (Bank of Italy), has been abandoned for more than 35 years, steadily falling into disrepair. Recently, following a public tender, the <strong>Bergamo-based construction company<\/strong> acquired the area for approximately <strong>\u20ac9.5 million<\/strong>, and is now planning the future of <strong>Valpolcevera<\/strong>\u2014a well-known district in the Ligurian capital, close to the former <strong>Morandi Bridge<\/strong>, the port, and the airport. It&#8217;s a strategic location in a city traditionally short on commercial and service spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI believe this project could mark a major step forward in the history of our company,\u201d says <strong>Alberto Pezzotta<\/strong>, sole director of Cospe. \u201cFor the city council as well, our arrival represents a turning point\u2014after 35 years of neglect in this central area of Genoa. We\u2019re considering various options, as the site covers <strong>40,000 square metres<\/strong>: it could host offices, logistics warehouses, small industrial facilities, or public services for the neighbourhood. But for now, it&#8217;s still too early to say. The most urgent task is to present our <strong>development plan<\/strong> to the City of Genoa. It\u2019s a major investment\u2014<strong>at least \u20ac30 million<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the necessary permits are granted\u2014the company is currently in regular talks with the City of Genoa\u2014\u201c<strong>construction could start this autumn<\/strong>,\u201d Pezzotta explains. \u201cIt will be preceded, over the summer, by <strong>demolition and site remediation works<\/strong>. We aim to complete the entire project by the end of <strong>2023<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cospe currently employs <strong>50 staff members<\/strong> and collaborates with about <strong>200 external professionals<\/strong>. Specialised in construction, the company has continued to grow\u2014even during the pandemic. \u201cIn 2020,\u201d Pezzotta notes, \u201cwe reached <strong>\u20ac54 million in revenue<\/strong>, up <strong>20%<\/strong> from the previous year. Our <strong>2021 order book<\/strong> was worth more than the year before, with further growth on the horizon. As a <strong>general contractor<\/strong>, we deliver residential, industrial, and hospitality projects, as well as renovations across Italy. We also provide <strong>maintenance services<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among Cospe\u2019s recent projects are the new <strong>Italtrans logistics hub<\/strong> in Nichelino (Turin), the <strong>renovation of the Grand Hotel Portovenere<\/strong>, and the <strong>Life Source Hotel<\/strong> in Bergamo, near the hospital. The large-scale Genoa project may also lead to <strong>new hires<\/strong>: \u201cThere\u2019s still room to grow our team,\u201d says Pezzotta. \u201cOver the last three years, as revenue increased, our workforce has already doubled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once construction is completed, Cospe plans to either <strong>sell or lease<\/strong> the redeveloped properties. \u201cIt\u2019s an exciting challenge,\u201d Pezzotta adds. \u201cEven Genoa\u2019s mayor, <strong>Marco Bucci<\/strong>, said he trusts Bergamo-based companies, having seen how some of them contributed on the front lines to rebuilding the Morandi Bridge.
